The Vancouver Island Zen Sangha is a meditation group which is affiliated with the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives. The group practices Serene Reflection Meditation (Soto Zen Buddhism), as taught by the Order.
The Order of Buddhist Contemplatives, whose first Abbess was Reverend Master Jiyu-Kennett, has its North American headquarters at Shasta Abbey in California and its European headquarters at Throssel Hole Buddhist Abbey in England, with priories, temples and affiliated meditation groups throughout North America and Europe.
The Vancouver Island Zen Sangha meets regularly in the Victoria area to meditate and study the teachings of the Serene Reflection Meditation tradition.
The Founder of the Vancouver Island Zen Sangha is Reverend Master Meiten McGuire, of the Order of Buddhist Contemplatives. Rev. Master Meiten died peacefully in Victoria in 2018 at the age of 91.
We are pleased to offer Rev. Meiten's books, Reflections on the Path, Reminders on the Way, and Returning to Stillness in electronic formats as free downloads. Our new compilation of these three books, together with previously unpublished writings, Coming Home - Taking Refuge Within, is now available as both a paperback and eBook on Amazon.
The Vancouver Zen Sangha is a registered charity, supported entirely by donations. Tax receipts are available on request. If you wish to donate, you can use the PayPal button below.
